Chocolate Chip Cookies

2/3 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 cups self-rising flour
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
2/3 cup margarine, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350*. Mix shortening, margarine, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir by hand remaining ingredients. Drop onto greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake 8 – 10 minutes until light. (Do not overbake.) Makes 7 dozen. Recipe may be halved.
